StandEcht Air Base

All audio components are susceptible to vibration, which negatively affects the soundstage by distorting the useful audio signal. We will look at the sources of vibration, its propagation mechanisms and the consequences of its negative effects later in the blog.
Vibration that hits a component in an audio system does not disappear over time to nowhere. It either wanders around the housing and parts of the audio component, penetrating into the audio signal, or is absorbed by special elements – dampers and parts made of materials with a high damping coefficient.
Knecht Audio has developed a special device that absorbs vibrations and converts them into heat, the DampEcht M. Audio components for which the beneficial effects of DampEcht M have been studied:
1. Turntables;
2. Phono stages;
3. CD players and transports;
4. DACs and network players;
5. Master clocks;
6. Preamplifiers and integrated amplifiers.
Regardless of the design, tube or transistor technology, the DampEcht M effectively absorbs vibration from the component enclosure and the sound of the system becomes more natural and clearer.
It can be mounted on top of the component enclosure, or fixed with a special clamp directly to the component enclosure or shelf.

DampEcht M does not change the sound of the component, does not emphasise certain frequencies, does not change the timbral balance. However, when using DampEcht M, the sound is stripped of unnecessary sonic noise that hides the useful audio signal behind it. Acoustic instruments and vocals ‘come alive’, harmonics and overtones of acoustic instruments become tangible, the soundstage is focused in depth and width, and sound images become clearer. Sibilants and harshness of midrange and treble sounds disappear. Quiet after-sounds continue to sound longer, there is a feeling of volume increase (who listened to music in the underground knows that behind the rumble of the train you can’t hear the music and details disappear). Percussion attack and transitional moments sound brighter, the sense of rhythm is sharpened.
